Welcome Shred It Girls
Shred It Girl focuses on board sports including surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, longboarding, and wakeboarding for female athletes and amateurs primarily on the East Coast. The site offers fitness and nutrition information to get athletes primed for the water, slopes, or pavement no matter their level of activity or experience. It features articles, photos and videos with local events and competitors as well as ways to stay involved with your favorite board sport whether you are in-season or off.
The editors of Shred It Girl will take you from the salty waves of the ocean to the fresh powder of the mountains and everywhere in between.

About the Editors:
Hey, I’m Alicia. I have a love for snowboarding, and have since I first strapped into a rental at Smugglers Notch, VT when I was 8 years old. The feeling of cruising with your friends or just riding solo with some tunes is unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. Unfortunately, I only was able to get this feeling a few months out of the year. I recently began longboarding to try to get my snowboard fix that I miss in the warmer months. Shred it Girl covers board sports year round.
My mission for Shred it Girl is to unite girls that ride. It gives us girls a sense of community in male dominated sports like skateboarding, longboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding and surfing. We are here to transform the traditional way of how these extreme sports work. I have witnessed how the times have changed, and girls are starting to shred just as hard as the boys are. Come share your love, Shred it Girl.
Hey Shred it Girls! I’m Erica, and I am super excited about starting this site as a place for girls to come together and support each other in what are considered male-dominated sports. I went snowboarding for the first time in second grade, around the same time I fell off a skateboard and have scars to prove it. My real passion for the site is the music section. Music is such an important part of my life, and I want the playlists to keep girls going through their days, their workouts, and their rides.
I hope Shred it Girl gives girls a place to come and share their trials and triumphs with surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, longboarding, and wakeboarding. I look forward to hearing tricks and tips from all you Shred it Girls. So drop us a line and help us start expanding this community!
Hey I’m Jen and I currently coach field hockey and lacrosse at Vassar college. I also have a background working as an athletic trainer at BlueStreak, a sports training facility devoted to the individual development of athletes of all kinds. Emphasis was on speed development, plyometrics, core/strength training and stability training among other things.
I’ve been snowboarding with Alicia for a couple of years now and when I heard about what she was doing with Shred it Girl, I immediately wanted to jump on board. I studied graphic design throughout high school and college and hope to continue my schooling at the Art Institutes of New York City next year. My goal is to promote Shred it Girl the best I can through the use of my design skills and training. Snowboarding (along with all boardsports) after all, is an artform.
Snowboarding has been a major part of my life for roughly 14 years (and counting) and in the summer months I try to get my fix by riding my ripstick around town. I was a tri sport athlete in college participating in field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse but none of them seem to compare to the serenity that a boardsport can offer. There’s just something about strapping in, turning up the music and playing your way down the mountain.
Now that you’ve gotten a glimpse into my life why don’t you keep clicking through the site and maybe i’ll catch you on the mountain one day!
Heather Lynn from Elevated Designs
Elevated Designs comes to you from Breckenridge, Colorado. Our name comes from our high elevation here (9600 ft above sea level), and all the people that seem to get elevated here as well. This company got started with my interest in go-go dancing, which is where I originally learned to make my own designs and costumes to stand out from the crowd. I then, transferred my love for original outfits in go-go dancing, onto hoodies and t-shirts. That’s when my company took off, I started off by doing custom orders for friends and the word of mouth kept spreading. I am a shred head by day, and sewing/graphic design nerd by night. Everything you see is all hand done by myself, Heather Lynn. Each piece is designed and sewn with love and attention to detail. Never will there be two of something I create, each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation. Now, if you’ve never been to Breck, one thing you will realize when you get here is that we are busting at the seams with endless steezy styles in this small town. Some of my inspirations come from the movement of a rider in park, to paintings I create, to the shows we rage at. Every little aspect of the shredder lifestyle is incorporated within my designs. So if you’re looking for a new one of a kind creation to add to your closet, with prices that are affordable, then check out Elevated Designs. You can buy all our stuff in our Etsy shop! Spread the good word, beautiful people!
I’ve been skating since I was 14. My first experience with downhill was skiing when I was 5. I switched over to snowboarding when I was 15. Ever since then, I’ve been trying to recreate that feeling of speed. It wasn’t until a friend introduced me to longboarding 4 years ago until I really found my passion for going sideways at +30mph. I try to incorporate my love for this sport any way I know how, by spreading the stoke amongst friends who are newly interested as well as mingling with long timers who want to step up their game. This is not just a hobby or form of transportation, this is my lifestyle.
Emily “Lily” Bliss
Hi, I’m Lily and I’m excited to be writing for Shred it Girl! I began snowboarding at twelve years old after deciding to trade in my skis for a snowboard at the small mountain where I had been learning how to ski. After a few hundred falls, I managed to get myself from the bunny slope to the chair lift, and I’ve never looked back. While nothing can beat carving powder on some nicely-groomed trails, the season is painfully short, and I’m left with nothing other than memories and longing during three seasons of the year.
Finally, I decided to let go of my fears of the hard pavement and picked up my San Clemente longboard to attempt to teach myself the tricks of the trade. When Alicia and Erica asked me to document my learning process to share on the site, I couldn’t have jumped on the opportunity any faster. I hope that my weekly updates about my longboarding adventures and mishaps will be a useful tool for any girls out there who want to get into the sport, as well as give me the opportunity to reflect on my progression, and receive tips from all those Shred it Girls who’re rocking longboards out there!
